Privacy Policy

Brickhouse Music respects the privacy of our customers and takes the protection of personal information seriously.

This Privacy Policy explains the types of information we may collect, how we use it, when it may be shared, how long it may be retained, and the choices available to our customers.

This policy applies to information collected through our website, in-store transactions, telephone transactions, rentals, music lessons, service relationships, and other interactions with Brickhouse Music.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with Brickhouse Music, we may collect information such as:

  • Name
  • Mailing, billing, or shipping address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Purchase and transaction history
  • Rental information
  • Lesson enrollment information
  • Limited payment information
  • Marketing preferences
  • Information necessary to administer other customer services or agreements

The information required will vary depending on the transaction or service.

In-Store Purchases and Customer Records

For ordinary in-store purchases, providing personal contact information is generally optional.

We may ask for information such as your name, address, telephone number, or email address so that we can maintain a customer purchase history and better assist you with future purchases and service questions.

For example, customers frequently ask us to identify the strings, reeds, accessories, instruments, or other merchandise they purchased previously.

Providing customer information may be required to participate in certain programs, including our rewards program.

Online Orders

For online purchases, we collect information necessary to process and fulfill the order, including:

  • Name
  • Billing and shipping address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Order and transaction information

This information is used to review and process the order, communicate with the customer, arrange shipment, provide customer service, and maintain appropriate business records.

Purchase History and Customer Records

Brickhouse Music may maintain customer contact information and purchase history as part of our customer records.

Purchase history may be retained for an extended period so that we can assist customers with previous purchases, product selection, service and warranty questions, rewards participation, and other customer-service needs.

For in-store purchases, providing contact information is generally optional unless it is required for a particular service or program. Online orders require the information necessary to process and fulfill the order.

We retain customer records while we have a legitimate business or legal reason to maintain them. Information that is no longer reasonably needed will be deleted, destroyed, or otherwise disposed of in accordance with our record-retention practices.

Payment Information

Brickhouse Music uses third-party point-of-sale and online payment systems to process payment transactions.

We do not have access to or store your full payment card number or card security code.

For transaction verification and customer-service purposes, our systems may display limited payment information, such as:

  • The last four digits of the card number
  • The card expiration date

For certain ongoing services, such as rentals or music lessons, a payment method may be securely maintained on file through our payment service provider.

Payment information is processed by our third-party payment providers according to their own privacy and security practices.

Rental Information

When you rent equipment from Brickhouse Music, we may collect information necessary to establish and administer the rental agreement, verify identity, protect rented property, process payments, and, when necessary, pursue collection of unpaid amounts or unreturned property.

Depending on the type of rental, this information may include:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Driver’s license state and number
  • Payment information maintained through our payment service provider
  • Social Security number when required for certain rental agreements

For instruments rented for use by a student, we may also collect the student’s name and school. This information is used to help administer the rental and provide services such as instrument maintenance pickup and return through participating schools.

Sensitive identifying information collected for rental purposes, including Social Security numbers and driver’s-license information, is used only for legitimate rental administration, identity verification, protection of our property, and collection purposes when necessary.

Brickhouse Music retains sensitive rental information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the rental relationship and related business or legal purposes.

When the rental has ended, our property has been returned, and the information is no longer required, sensitive rental records are securely destroyed or, where appropriate, returned to the customer.

Electronic services may be used to collect rental information. Information collected through those services is removed when it is no longer required for processing the rental and is handled in accordance with our retention practices and the applicable service provider’s privacy and security practices.

Lesson Information

When a customer enrolls in music lessons, Brickhouse Music may collect information necessary to administer the lesson relationship, including:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Payment information maintained through our payment service provider

When the student receiving lessons is different from the responsible adult, we may also collect the student’s name.

Contact information is used to administer lessons and communicate about scheduling, cancellations, changes, billing, and other matters related to the lesson program.

A payment method may be maintained on file through our payment service provider for lesson-related charges. Brickhouse Music does not retain full payment-card details in its own records.

Information About Minors

Brickhouse Music provides services such as music lessons and student instrument rentals that may involve children or other minors.

When a student is a minor, the rental, lesson, or other customer relationship is established and administered through a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult.

We may collect limited information about the student, such as the student’s name and school, when reasonably necessary to provide the requested service.

Student information may be used for purposes such as:

  • Administering music lessons
  • Scheduling and communicating about lessons
  • Coordinating instrument maintenance, pickup, or return through a school
  • Managing a student instrument rental
  • Providing other services requested by the responsible adult

We do not use student information collected for these purposes to enroll the student in marketing communications.

Our website is intended for a general audience and is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly use our website to collect personal information directly from children under 13 without the involvement or consent of a parent or guardian.

Marketing Communications

Brickhouse Music may send newsletters, sale announcements, product information, and other promotional emails to customers who have chosen to receive marketing communications.

Customers may choose to receive these communications when providing an email address in-store, through our website, or through another Brickhouse Music service.

Providing an email address solely for an emailed receipt, online order, rental, service request, or other transaction does not by itself enroll you in marketing communications.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe option provided in the message or by contacting Brickhouse Music.

Opting out of marketing communications does not prevent us from sending emails necessary to complete or administer a purchase, rental, service request, warranty matter, lesson enrollment, or other customer relationship.

Sharing of Information

Brickhouse Music does not sell personal information.

We may share personal information with trusted service providers when reasonably necessary to operate our business, process transactions, fulfill orders, administer rentals or lessons, communicate with customers, maintain our systems, or provide other requested services.

These service providers may include:

  • Payment, point-of-sale, and website service providers
  • Shipping carriers
  • Electronic form and document-processing services
  • Email and communication service providers
  • Technology and hosting providers
  • Collection agencies or other service providers used to recover unpaid amounts or unreturned property when necessary

We provide these parties only with information reasonably necessary for the services they perform.

We may also disclose information when required by law or legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Brickhouse Music, our customers, or others.

Website Analytics and Cookies

Our website and the third-party services that support it may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, maintain functionality, understand how visitors use the site, and improve our services.

Brickhouse Music currently uses Google Analytics to collect general information about website usage, such as pages visited, interactions with the site, browser or device information, and general traffic patterns.

Information collected through analytics services is used to understand website performance and visitor activity rather than to identify individual customers for Brickhouse Music’s direct marketing purposes.

Cookies and similar technologies may also be used by our website, payment, security, or other service providers as necessary to provide their services.

The use of information collected by third-party services is also subject to the privacy and security practices of those providers.

Data Security

Brickhouse Music takes reasonable administrative, physical, and technical measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

The safeguards we use vary depending on the type and sensitivity of the information involved. These measures include limiting access to customer information to those who need it for legitimate business purposes, using third-party payment and technology providers for transaction processing, and securely disposing of sensitive records when they are no longer needed.

No method of storing or transmitting information can be guaranteed to be completely secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we become aware of a security incident involving personal information, we will respond in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

Customer Choices, Corrections, and Deletion

Customers may contact Brickhouse Music to request correction of inaccurate personal information or to ask that their customer account and associated personal information be deleted.

When a customer no longer has an active rental, lesson enrollment, or other ongoing service relationship with Brickhouse Music, we will generally honor requests to remove the customer’s personal account information from our active systems.

Certain transaction records may need to be retained for accounting, tax, inventory, warranty, fraud-prevention, or other legitimate business or legal purposes.

When possible, retained transaction records will be separated from or no longer associated with the deleted customer account.

If a customer has an active rental, all rented property must be returned and the rental relationship completed before rental-related personal information can be deleted.

Customers enrolled in lessons may request deletion of their information, but doing so will require ending the lesson relationship because current contact and payment information is necessary to administer lessons.

Customers may also update their contact information or marketing preferences at any time by contacting Brickhouse Music.
