Ever wondered how musicians perform, improvise, and compose music? Then Music Theory I is for you! In this introduction class students take their first steps towards understanding the fundamental tools of music, such as melody, harmony, and rhythm. Students will learn about key signatures and time signatures, as well as the basics regarding scales, chords, arpeggios, rhythms, melodies, song forms, ear training and critical listening. Lessons require in-class participation as well as the completion of homework material. Music Theory I is intended for those with no prior musical experience as well as experienced players and singers. Ages 12 and older.
